Released Once Again: Second-Round Choice from Bills' past squad

The Buffalo Bills have made some significant moves during their roster cuts in the 2025 offseason, and one of the most notable decisions was the release of wide receiver KJ Hamler.

Drafted by the Denver Broncos in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft, Hamler's tenure with the Bills began in 2024 when he was signed to their practice squad. However, after three years in the league, Hamler has amassed just 620 total receiving yards and three touchdowns, and his absence from the field since the 2022 season has raised concerns.

The Bills' final roster cuts deadline was at 4 p.m. ET on Tuesday, and Hamler was among those released. The announcement was made during the 2025 offseason edition of HBO's 'Hard Knocks'.

Despite some fans' hopes that Hamler would make the Bills' roster, it appears that the team has decided to move in a different direction. The Bills have added Elijah Moore and Joshua Palmer to their receiving corps in the 2025 offseason, and several other players are still vying for a spot, including undrafted free agents Frank Gore Jr., Paris Shand, Tyrell Shavers, and Jimmy Ciarlo, as well as late-round selections Dorian Strong, Marcus Harris, and Chase Lundt.

If Hamler clears waivers, there is a possibility that he could end up on the Bills' practice squad once again. However, for now, Hamler's future with the team remains uncertain.

The Bills' roster now stands at 53 players, the maximum number allowed during the regular season. The team will continue to fine-tune their roster as they prepare for the upcoming season.
